José Ramón Montero
José Ramón Montero (Ph.D. in Law, University of Santiago de Compostela) is Professor of Political Science at the Universidad Autónoma de Madrid (UAM).
José Ramón Montero has taught at the Universities of Granada, Santiago, Zaragoza, Cádiz, and Complutense de Madrid, as well at the Center for Advanced Studies in the Social Sciences, Juan March Institute, and at the Instituto Empresa, both in Madrid. Has been Visiting Fellow at the Universities of Harvard, California in Berkeley, Ohio State University, Institut d’Études Politiques-Bordeaux, ICSTE-Instituto Universitário de Lisboa, and European University Institute (EUI) and Istituto Italiano di Scienze Umane, both in Florence (Italy). Has served as dean of the School of Law at the University of Cádiz, Sub-director of Spain’s Center for Sociological Studies (CIS), Director of the Economics and Social Science Programme, Spanish Ministry of Education and Science, Vicepresident of the Spanish Association of Political Science, chairman of the Department of Political Science at the UAM, and member of the Editorial Committees of the Revista Española de Ciencia Política, European Journal of Political Research, and European Political Science Review. He has as well been Spain’s representative at the European Science Foundation, and member of the executive committee of the European Social Survey. He is currently a member of the Academia Europeae, and has published extensively on electoral behavior, political parties, political culture, and political participation.
